Notice of Scott Avenue Closure Starting April 9, 2026

Beginning Thursday, April 9, 2026, Scott Avenue, from Congress Street to Broadway Boulevard will be closed to southbound thru-traffic from about 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., until Friday, April 10, 2026. This will allow a large crane to assist with work taking place on a vacant building. Parking and access to the Federal courthouse on Scott Avenue will be maintained during this time. The Sun Link streetcar will also not be impacted.

This schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or any other unforeseen circumstances. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel if traveling in the downtown area.


Notice of Closures for the Tucson Folk Festival Starting April 10, 2026

The 41st Annual Tucson Folk Festival returns to Downtown Tucson April 10–12, bringing an estimated 18,000 attendees over the weekend, with peak attendance on Saturday and Sunday. Admission to the festival is free and all stages are located outdoors.

To safely accommodate the event across six stages, several temporary road closures will be in place in the downtown area.

Road Closures


Friday, April 10 (beginning 6:00 AM):

  • Church Ave: Pennington → Alameda
  • Pennington: Church → Stone
  • Telles: Meyer → Court
  • Court Ave: Council → Alameda

Saturday, April 11 (beginning 5:00 AM):

  • Church Ave: Alameda → Council (additional closure)
  • Pennington St: Church → Stone
  • Alameda (eastbound): Main → Church

Access to Presidio Garage will be maintained. Exit access from Pima County Courthouse and offices will be maintained open on Pennington.

All streets will reopen by 5:30 AM on Monday, April 13. 
Advance traffic control signage will be posted in the days leading up to the event.

Recommended Public Parking


Festival attendees are encouraged to use nearby public garages:

  • El Presidio Garage – 160 W Alameda
  • Public Works Garage – 50 W Alameda
  • Main Library Parking – 45 W Alameda
  • Pennington Garage – 110 E Pennington

Flat daily event rate is being offered at all major nearby garages during the weekend, $7, as well as extended evening hours through to 11 PM.

Desert Discovery Day Road Closures: April 11th

6th Avenue will be closed between 12th Street and 13th Street for the Children’s Museum Tucson’s Desert Discovery Day event.

Notice of Westbound Church Closure Starting March 25, 2026

Beginning Wednesday, March 25, 2026, crews will begin work on the new Sixth Street and Church Avenue intersection, as part of the final phase of the Downtown Links Project.

During construction, Church Avenue at Perry Avenue to Sixth Street at Main Avenue will be closed to westbound travel. Also, northbound travel on Church Avenue will not be permitted north of Franklin Street. Westbound travel on Franklin Street from Stone Avenue to Perry Avenue will be maintained to allow business and residential access. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes, such as Speedway Boulevard or Congress Street, to avoid the construction area.

This work includes construction of a porkchop island and its traffic signal installation, construction of a median that ties into the existing median west of Main Avenue, and base lift paving of the roadway on Sixth Street, from Stone Avenue to Church Avenue.

Work will take place from about 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., each day, Monday through Saturday, and is scheduled to take about a month to complete. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
