My work contains slightly varied elements which I integrate into an ordered, unified space through painting. Each painting is an investigation of a process that is informed by not knowing. I create relationships by placing one color next to another, and then one panel next to another. The results intrigue and surprise me. It’s a bit like seeing people at a fantastic party where different energies coalesce. The elements come into a state of unity or discord in unexpected ways. Currently I’ve been using a grid to organize the placement of different colors. To all appearances it seems to be quite structured, and yet chaos reigns.
I am wanting to see my life and my work woven into a seamless whole. With this latest body of work, which began in 2020, I am that much closer to achieving this goal. While the work is personal, the ideas are universal. I am speaking to that which changes. This work is a search for insight into my connection to and place within the universe.
