Details
After Mexico gained independence from Spain in September of 1821, the Presidio San Agustín del Tucson was under Mexican rule for 33 years. Our Mexican Independence Day celebration includes:
**Re-enactors dressed as Mexican soldiers
**Coloring crafts and making papel picado (decorative paper flags)
**Mexican Flag activity discussing the symbolism of the flag
**Samples of Mexican candy
