Nancy & Her Pandemic Band
Nancy McCallion is best known as the songwriter and vocalist for original Celtic-Norteno-you-name-it folk-rock cult band, The Mollys, a Tucson touring band that developed a solid following and a trail of rave reviews (including a listing in the Washington Post’s top 10 CDs of 1997) for powerful, hard-to-classify recordings and pool-of-sweat performances over 14 years. Nancy continues to write and perform and has recently had her original songs featured in the 2019 Netflix series, Living with Yourself, starring Paul Rudd and the 2015 feature film, Age of Adaline. The Pandemic Band, Nancy's current outfit, recorded her latest CD, Go to Ground during the pandemic of 2020. Live performances feature original tunes with a twist of soul and a dram of blarney, three part harmonies, lead, rhythm and slide guitars, and the occasional harmonica and traditional Irish tin whistle.Veterans of the Tucson Music scene, they've performed in a variety of venues, from restaurants and bars to headlining the Tucson Folk Festival. The band features Arizona Blues Hall of Fame member, Danny Krieger, one of the Southwest's most respected guitarists/slide guitarists whose musical resume includes world-wide tours with British pop band 'Christy' in the early '70s and numerous recording sessions with a variety of artists ranging from Exene Cervenka to the late Andy Gibb. The rhythm section includes Tucson singer/songwriter/guitarist, Neil McCallion on bass, vocals and the occasional classical guitar, along with veteran of the Seattle music scene, Les Merrihew on drums.
