Celebrate the Holidays and create lasting memories on Second SundAZe: Family Day @ TMA! On December 14, bring the whole family to the Tucson Museum of Art for a festive day of holiday cheer and creativity! Enjoy hands-on art-making activities for all ages, live performances by Ballet Tucson and Arizona Opera, and photos with Santa.

Art-Making Activities

Ornaments- Make your own tassel ornaments with scraps of fabric and yarn.
Garlands- Create a holiday garland with paper and string.
Ballet Tucson’s Sugar Plum Fairy visits TMA
Mooney Hall, 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.

The Sugar Plum Fairy from Ballet Tucson’s The Nutcracker will be at the museum to share some special holiday magic. Children of all ages are invited to join her Nutcracker ballet class and to hear the enchanting story of The Nutcracker.
Hansel & Gretel vs. the Witch by Arizona Opera
Music by Engelbert Humperdinck. Written and adapted by Joshua Borths.
Bonnie L. Bradford Courtyard, 12:00 p.m.- 1:00 p.m.

This new adaptation of Humperdinck’s classic opera turns the famous story of the witch and those crafty kids on its head. Narrated by Hansel—all grown up—he explains what actually went on in that fantastical gingerbread house. This fun, fast-paced show is sure to delight audiences of all ages, while using familiar characters to shed light on relevant themes. Did Hansel and Gretel learn to find their own way out of the woods? Did they grow from their experience? Did the Witch become a force for good instead of evil? You will have to wait and see…
