Come discover the personal transformation and creative alchemy of working with – and making – crystal paints. This full morning takes us on a balancing and centering experience of working with the iconic Arizona gemstones and crystals as well and the power of Sedona red rocks. It’s one part science, one part creative discovery and one part pure alchemy.

Schedule:
PART 1:
10-10:40am
Meet greet and settle into the why and how of working with gemstone pigments

10:40-11:30am
Let’s paint with Sonoran desert gems (turquoise, tourmaline, red jasper and malachite)

11:00 -11:30am
The blending bar is now open (11am – 11:30am) make your own 4-6 stations for a go at making your own unique paint no other will have

11:45am -1pm
Lunch: reset, refresh and let the work dry in the Tucson sun

PART 2:
1pm – 1:30pm
Return to studio

1:30pm – 3:30pm
Creative victory! spray fix**, cropping and finishing art works on wood block

(1) 6” by 6”
(1) 8” by 8”
and (4) art cards too
– all supplies are included for each student

3:30pm – 4pm
Gallery show! And a joyful ending to the day of creative victory

Includes:
A) Discover the power of our desert gems – black tourmaline, red jasper, malachite, and always, the iconic turquoise, sourced here in Arizona.
B) Blending bar – create your own unique crystal paints that are as unique as you – to use and take home
C) The big finish: take home 4-5 finished pieces

Artist’s Bio:
Karyn Holyk is a professional watercolor artist, with a unique focus on gemstone and crystal pigments and paints. Holyk uses ethically sourced crystal and gemstone dusts. The magic is the physical science of each mineral, married with their spiritual and metaphysical attributes. Her artwork and classes are weave together a journey through history, faith, color theory, geology, science unlock and the deep personal wisdoms within us all.
