The Lounge is located in the newly re-imagined grand lobby of the hotel. Hotel owner, Shana Oseran describes the space as “A sexy spot with a nod to the Wild West.”
The Lounge features a brand new bar serving a wide selection of drinks, including many new custom creations that can only be found in The Lounge. Light bites and charcuterie boards are also served, along with amazing desserts, which are all handmade in-house.
To commemorate the opening of The Lounge at Hotel Congress, there will be a reception to celebrate the photography of Graciela Iturbide in collaboration with Etherton Gallery Tucson.
Graciela Iturbide recently won the 2023 Photography Prize of the French Academy of Fine Arts and is known for her black-and-white images of local people in her native country of Mexico. She most often depicts women, believing them to embody independence and sexuality. Born in 1942 in Mexico City, Mexico, she went on to study film at the Centro de Estudios Cinematográficos at the Universidad Nacional Autónama de Mexico in 1969, where she came under the influence of acclaimed Mexican photographer Manuel Álvarez Bravo. Iturbide went on to work as Bravo’s photography assistant, and his methods and aesthetics have had a lasting effect on her photography practice.
The exhibition features numerous photographs, which are all for sale on premises.
