Explore the Arizona 2026 Biennial exhibition and connect with Biennial fiber Artist Wendy Raisanen by joining an embroidery circle to create herbal sachets.
This embroidery sachet drop-in workshop is a relaxing and creative craft session where you learn basic hand-embroidery stitches to decorate a small fabric pouch. You then fill the stitched bag with lavender or other dried herbs from Monsoon Mystics while enjoying tea from Scented Leaf and pastries from Dough con Amor.
Please note that this is not a class with formal instruction; rather, it’s an opportunity to stitch in community. Some experience with hand sewing is helpful but not required.
During this casual gathering, you’ll have access to hand mending tools and materials, like scissors, needles, thread, embroidery floss, and fabric scraps. Wendy will be available to offer suggestions and advice if you get stuck or aren’t sure how to get started.
About Wendy Raisanen:
Wendy Raisanen is a fiber artist living in Phoenix. She has been making art, painting, and sewing since she was a child. Upcycling clothes, designing and sewing garments, painting, and making art quilts make up her current art practice. She is also the curator of exhibitions for Scottsdale Public Art.
