Local star Heather Hardy leads the Dusty City Blues Band, with her mean fiddle and great song selection!
Heather Hardy and Dusty City Blues is the latest project for violinist Heather 'Lil' Mama Hardy. Intentionally aimed at revisiting the blues, her first love, the one where Tucson first noticed her jaw-dropping talent. Dusty City Blues features her longtime partner from the days of the the Sam Taylor Band, the amazing Ed Delucia on Guitar. Ed is an in-demand musician and can he seen performing in orchestras pits at Broadway shows to clubs and hotel patios. There has always been a special kinship between Heather and Ed, both having worked under the great Sam Taylor, and Dusty City Blues truly highlights that relationship.
Dusty City Blues premiered in October 2020 at Hotel Congress for a performance sponsored by the The Southern Arizona Blues Heritage Foundation. Word got quickly got around about Dusty City Blues and their second performance on a Sunday afternoon set the record for attendance for a show during covid. Yes, they're that good!
Nick Augustine sits in on bass and is well known and deeply respected for his work with Rainer as well as many Tucson bands including the rocking blues band Tony and the Torpedoes. Heather's adult son, Jacob Hardy, plays drums. Jacobs's love leans more toward trash-punk (his band Get a Grip is popular in Tucson) but his years growing up around countless local and international Blues artists helped forge a very traditional sound while his youthful energy adds a vibrancy to the band.
The band will be performing at the 2021 Bisbee Blues Festival and they're especially excited to be headlining for a special Rhythm and Roots "Tuesday Night Live" performance at Hotel Congress on June 15.
Tickets available at Hotel Congress Front Desk, online at www.hotelcongress.com, and at the door.
As always limited seating and covid protocols are strictly enforced to ensure the safety of our guests and staff.
