Building Illumination Program

Returning Participants

Turn on lights by November 22!

If you participated last year:

Step 1: Locate and retrieve last year's product from storage**.

Step 2: TEST your product (TEST your products ASAP)

  • Plug-in the lights indoors before installing on your roof.
  • After pluging-in, check each bulb to make sure it is on and working.
  • If bulbs are out, make sure it's firmly tightened in the socket. If the bulb does not turn on when tightened, you will need to replace the bulb.
  • TEST your photoelectric timers to see if they are functioning (cover the sensor for up to 10 seconds to see if the timer illuminates a strand of lights).
  • Check the C-clips you installed on your roof line to ensure they were not damaged and can still hold your light line in place (clips may need to be replaced every one to two years because of pigeons or sun damage).

Step 3: Order replacement product from Christmas Light Decorators if needed. Contact Aaron or Selina of Christmas Light Decorators for a free quote by emailing aaron@cldaz.com or maralyn@cldaz.com. Or call (480) 967-1122:

  • C-clips, sold in bags of 100 - $35.00 per bag
  • C9 Smooth WW bulbs, sold in boxes of 25 - $34.25 per box
  • C9 Green wire stringer, 15" spacing, sold in 100 socket increments - $85 per stringer
  • Male end plugs, green, sold in bags of 10 - $13 per bag
  • Female end plugs, green, sold in bags of 10 - $13 per bag

Step 4: Install your lights:

  • Install your light line into your clips from last year. It is best that you slightly unscrew the bulb to fit into the clip rather than snap it in place (snapping into place could result in damaging the clip, bulb and/or socket). Watch the "How to install lights into c-clips" video below.
  • If you need to replace damaged C-clips, watch this video.
  • IMPORTANT: Remember, the C-clips are to be installed using a Loctite adhesive at 13.5" apart (on center) from clip to clip. The light line, or wire, should be spaced 15" from bulb to bulb, which will allow you to have some room.
  • The vendor does not recommend installing the C-clips using screws, nails or anything to puncture your building parapet.

Step 5: Turn on your lights:

  • Go outside and check your lights from the street - make adjustments as needed (replace or tighten bulbs; replace clips etc.).
  • Test light line after it's installed on roof and check/tighten or replace bulbs that are out.
  • Plug in your timer and lights. Turn them on when they're ready. If you need a timer, you can purchase one at Home Deport, Lowes or Ace Hardware.

**ATTENTION: Light lines should be removed and properly stored at the conclusion of each season (by January 15) to extend the longevity of the product.

If you did not remove and store your light line from last year - you will likely need to re-bulb your entire line. The Arizona sun is very damaging to the bulbs and wiring systems.
