25th Annual Parade of Lights shines with help from Mister Car Wash
DOWNTOWN TUCSON, AZ, November 5, 2019 – Downtown Tucson will become the sparkling heart of the city on November 30 as the 25th Annual Parade of Lights kicks off five weeks of holiday festivities.
Mister Car Wash, this year’s title sponsor, is generously supporting the event and providing dozens of volunteers to help with parade logistics and crowd control.
“Downtown’s potential represents the best of who we are as a city, and its energy can be felt across the entire community,” said Megan Everett, Director of Marketing for Mister Car Wash. "We have recognized the rewards of a thriving downtown community since our first day here, and it’s been our privilege to be involved in the kinds of activities that help to make those rewards real in the lives of individuals and families who spend time here.”
The Parade of Lights has become a popular annual tradition for companies, families, schools and groups energized about sharing their creativity with the community.
“Groups are having fun creating their floats for this year’s parade. It’s a real team-building activity that brings people together and encourages amazing artistic expression,” said Kathleen Eriksen, President & CEO of the Downtown Tucson Partnership. “I’m excited to see all the bright, festive entries roll through downtown!”
The deadline for parade participants to apply is November 8, just days away. All entries will be required to include the use of lights. A panel of judges will award five prizes based on elements including beauty, creativity and use of lights.
Festivities in Jácome Plaza on November 30 will include live entertainment from 4:30 to 9 p.m., the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5:30 p.m., and the Parade of Lights at 6:30 p.m. Downtown will be decorated with thousands of lights, and free streetcar rides will be available all day long!
The annual Parade of Lights & Festival is the kickoff event for Downtown Tucson Partnership’s five week holiday promotion, Desert Nights Downtown Lights. These festive activities make Downtown Tucson a must-visit destination for the holiday season, with approximately 60 illuminated buildings, roughly 150 street trees tightly wrapped with lights, dozens of decorated storefronts and hundreds of events, programs and specials.
Additional support for the parade is provided by: City of Tucson, TEP, Razor and Cox Media.
