Downtown Momentum Continues
On average, a new business opens in downtown Tucson every two weeks. In 2016, 26 new businesses opened in the greater downtown area, creating an estimated 650 jobs in restaurants, offices and retail outlets. By the midpoint of 2017, another 11 businesses have announced plans to open, which does not include the AC Marriott hotel and its two retail tenants that have not yet been publicly announced.
