Downtown Tucson Continues to Grow as a Destination for Dining, Arts and Nightlife in Southern Arizona

The area highlights a wave of new openings signaling sustained economic momentum

TUCSON, Ariz. (July 31, 2026)  — The Downtown Tucson Partnership (DTP) today released its roundup of new business openings that underscores downtown Tucson's continued growth as an economic driver and destination for Southern Arizona. From January through July 2026, more than a dozen new restaurants, bars, galleries and retail concepts opened their doors in the district, reflecting sustained investment and energy into the urban core.

"Downtown Tucson continues to build incredible momentum," said Crystal Moore, President and CEO of the Downtown Tucson Partnership. "We're seeing new investment across a variety of industries, with more retailers, restaurants, galleries, offices and residential projects choosing downtown. That continued confidence is creating new opportunities for businesses, residents and visitors alike." 

New Openings, January–July 2026

  • The Board Room Sports Loft & Bar (January 2026) — A sports bar and lounge concept opened its doors downtown, adding a new gathering spot for game days and nightlife.
  • Los Milics Restaurant & Tasting Room (February 2026) — The Elgin-based winery brought its restaurant and tasting room downtown, pairing estate wines with a dedicated dining space.
  • Brandylion House of Tea & Spirits (March 2026) — A tea and spirits concept opened, blending craft cocktails with a curated tea program.
  • Oaxarico (April 2026) — A new addition to downtown's dining scene bringing Oaxacan-inspired flavors to the district.
  • Atelier Bopa (June 2026) — A new creative and retail concept led by designer and architect Zakaria Boucetta joined the district's growing art and design corridor.
  • Emerald 29 (July 2026) — A subterranean speakeasy beneath the historic Treasury 1929 building opened, adding a Prohibition-era cocktail experience downtown.
  • Communion (July 2026) — Previously located in the Barrio Viejo neighborhood, the resale concept featuring pre-loved clothing and low-waste goods relocated to the DTP district. 
  • Gibson Market & Food Hall (July 2026) — A new food hall with a market, coffee shop, bar and several independent vendors under one roof, including:
  • Block A (July 2026) — A sports bar addition to the district, bringing U of A team spirit to downtown with elevated food, drinks and an immersive LED game viewing.
  • The Proper Collective (July 2026) — The Proper Collective is a locally-owned Tucson vendor mall at 5th and Congress showcasing 85 makers, artists, and small businesses from the region. 
  • Contreras Gallery (July 2026) — The Contreras Gallery and Jewelry relocated to their new location in the historic Labor Temple building, contributing to the district's arts scene. Owned and operated by Neda G. Contreras and Eugene M. Contreras. 
  • Femme in Flux and Sol Path Counseling & Wellness (July 2026)—Local therapists Lily Woods and Jasmine Romanov share a historic, ADA-accessible second-floor office space to provide in-person therapy sessions.

DTP notes this list represents only businesses that opened or relocated within the district during the seventh-month period and does not include upcoming openings still in development.
