Final holiday movie of the season in Downtown Tucson

This Friday Wraps Up Outdoor Holiday Movie Series Downtown , ‘Friday Food, Fun and Flix’

DOWNTOWN TUCSON, AZ, December 19, 2019 – The Friday Food, Fun and Flix holiday movie series lit up the big screen on Fridays this December with a series of family-friendly flicks downtown. Families flocked to the events, which features a gigantic screen in Jácome Plaza on the corner of Stone Avenue and Pennington Street.

The plaza is filled with oversized game pieces for chess, Jenga, ping-pong, checkers and more. Red bistro tables and chairs fill the café area, but attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or folding chairs of their own to ensure they have cozy, comfortable seating under the stars. Admire the downtown buildings lined with holiday lights and walk through the 10-foot-tall illuminated ornament for a photo opportunity and a chance to win the Insta Photo Contest sponsored by Visit Tucson. Trees tightly wrapped with white LED lighting complete the setting for a festive evening out with loved ones.

The series comes to a close this Friday, December 20 at 7 p.m., with the American Christmas comedy film “Home Alone 2 – Lost in New York” starring Macaulay Culkin. One year after Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) was left home alone and had to defeat a pair of bumbling burglars, he accidentally finds himself stranded in New York City – and the same criminals are not far behind.

There is no charge for admission, and popcorn and hot cocoa will be available for sale. No smoking is permitted. Pets are allowed on a leash, but disruptive pets and their owners will be asked to leave. Uniformed and non-uniformed security will be on hand for the event.

Friday Food, Fun and Flix is part of Desert Nights Downtown Lights, five weeks of festivities in Downtown Tucson. Special thanks to the sponsors: Visit Tucson, Pima County, HSL Properties, Pima Community College, University of Arizona, Rio Nuevo and Downtown Development Corporation.
