A Passage Through Color

After a long and fulfilling career in art education and publishing, I now have the time to devote myself to drawing, collage and painting. I cherish this joyful passage of time that is rich with exploration, discovery and sometimes frustration. Above all, I dwell in the possibility to create something of beauty.
I am drawn to bold, expressive colors. Curvilinear shapes and strong colors reflect the endless beauty and inspiration I find in nature. Painting offers me the opportunity to explore the concepts of “place”, growth, and expansion. Mountain tops, mesas, flora, and fauna, invite the viewer to “meander” throughout my images and to discover a uniquely personal sense of “place”.
In this show, A Passage Through Color, I am sharing my pen and mixed media drawings of imaginary environments with neighborhoods nestled between mountain ranges, trees, flowers and more. Colorful, stylized shapes intertwine with black and white details that invite you to meander throughout the drawings, in the hope you will find a special “place” of your own. The drawings provide inspiration for my paintings, that range from abstract landscapes to non-objective imagery . As always, the influence of mother nature is prevalent.
