The Presidio Museum comes alive allowing visitors get a feel for what it would have been like to be in the Presidio at the height of its occupation in the late 18th century. Opportunities for visitors include:
• tastings of hand-made tortillas and fresh-made bread interactive demonstrations of children’s games and weaving
• soldiers practicing their musket drills
• pumping the bellows of the blacksmith’s forge
• playing Presidio era games
This month, Living History Day will focus on how families prepared for Día de los Muertos. Visitors will learn about, create and sample some of the decorations and foods that go into creating ofrendas (altars). Activities may include making paper flowers, sugar skulls or Calavera masks. Samplings of champurrado and Pan de Muertos will also be available.
